Advanced Surgical Care for Open Wounds, Burns, Trauma & Skin Loss
Deep cuts, open wounds and traumatic injuries can sometimes result in significant skin and soft-tissue loss. When a wound cannot be closed properly with routine methods, reconstructive surgery may be considered to provide adequate coverage and protect the underlying tissues.
Treatment planning depends on the wound size, depth, location, tissue condition and the structures involved.
Some wounds may be too large, deep or complex for direct closure. In such cases, specialized reconstructive techniques may help achieve stable wound coverage while supporting healing and preserving the function of the affected area.
When an injury causes loss of skin or soft tissue, reconstruction may be required to cover the wound. Depending on the wound condition, skin grafting or other tissue coverage techniques may be considered.
Reconstructive procedures focused on restoring wound coverage, function and appearance.
Skin Graft Surgery
When a wound has lost a significant amount of skin, a skin graft may be considered to provide coverage and support healing. The appropriate approach depends on the size, depth, location and condition of the wound.
For wounds with deeper tissue loss or areas requiring durable soft-tissue coverage, flap reconstruction may be considered. This approach can help provide coverage for wounds where simple closure or grafting may not be suitable.
Burn injuries can cause extensive skin damage, scarring and restricted movement. Reconstructive procedures may help improve wound coverage, address tissue loss and restore function in selected cases.
Traumatic injuries may result in open wounds, tissue loss or damage to important structures. Reconstructive surgery may help restore coverage and support functional recovery following significant injuries.
Some wounds and injuries heal with prominent or problematic scars. Scar revision procedures may be considered to improve the appearance, texture or contour of selected scars.
